Main uses of cast iron plate

Date:2025-07-07 Visit:2

Cast iron flat plate, also known as scribing plate, inspection plate, platform plate or reference plate, is a precision machined, with high flatness and excellent stability of the cast iron work surface. It is an indispensable basic tool in machinery manufacturing, testing, assembly, scribing and other industrial fields.

Main uses:

Precision Measuring Datum: As an inspection plate, it is used to test the flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, straightness, angle and other form and positional tolerances of workpieces (such as shafts, boxes, moulds, etc.). Precision measuring instruments (such as height gauge, micrometer, three coordinate measuring machine, etc.) placed and work on the ideal platform.

Scribing reference: as a scribing plate, to provide accurate horizontal reference surface for the workpiece, used for complex workpieces in the machining before the scribing positioning (to determine the location of holes, contour lines, etc.).

Assembly platform: as the foundation platform when assembling large or precision equipment, to ensure that the parts maintain accurate relative position during assembly.

Jig and fixture base: as a variety of special jigs and fixtures, positioning jigs and positioning benchmarks.

Experimental test platform: in the laboratory or R & D department, for a variety of physical and mechanical testing to provide a stable, flat support surface.

Teaching demonstration: in technical schools, vocational colleges and universities, for basic mechanical teaching, measuring and marking skills training.

Notes on selection and use:

Accuracy level: Choose the appropriate accuracy according to the actual use (00 level is the highest, 3 level is the lowest). Choose 00 or 0 for high-precision measurement; choose 1 or 2 for general inspection and marking; choose 3 for assembly platform.

Size specification: According to the maximum workpiece size and operating space to determine. Common sizes range from a few hundred millimetres square to several metres in length and width.

Support and levelling: critical! The plate must be accurately levelled to horizontal using adjustable supports (jacks, washers) (usually a synoptic or electronic level) and ensuring that the support point is at the designed support position on the underside of the plate. Incorrect support or failure to level can seriously affect accuracy.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: It should be placed on a stable foundation or special stand at a constant temperature, dry, free of vibration and corrosive gases. Avoid direct sunlight and localised heat sources.

Maintenance

Rust prevention: Clean up oil, cutting fluid, dust, etc. in time after use. Apply anti-rust oil (e.g. industrial petroleum jelly) on the working surface and cover the protective plate. Keep the environment dry.

Anti-bumping: Strictly prohibit the use of hard objects to knock the work surface, placing the workpiece should be gently held and placed.

Periodic Inspection: Check the flatness accuracy periodically and perform maintenance scraping or recalibration if necessary.

Cleaning: Use soft cloth or degreasing cotton dipped in paraffin or special cleaner when cleaning, avoid using corrosive solvents.
